After having a great 2019 here are some of the players to watch out for in the coming year:

Daniil Medvedev: With an World ranking of 4 currently, which is no mean feat when you have the likes of Federer, Djokovic and Nadal up against you, Medvedev has had a great year. The 23 year old from Russia picked up 4 titles in 2019, Sofia, Cincinnati, St Petersburg and Shanghai, and the final of the US Open, which were all on hard court. He has a record of 59 wins to 18 losses this year and will look to claim even more titles in 2020 as he starts to mature and will certainly be one to watch. The Russian also has a bit of a reputation for his abrasive behaviour!

Dominic Thiem: Ranked 5th overall in the World in 2019, Thiem has also had a great year, followed up by a win over Federer at the ATP World Tour Finals, he will certainly look to carry on 2020 in the same form he is finishing off 2019. With a win / loss ratio of 46:17 this year, picking up 5 titles between clay and hard surfaces, at Vienna, Beijing, Kitzbuhel, Barcelona and Indian Wells, which is more than any other year since he turned pro in 2011. Coming from a family with a tennis background, the Austrian will be looking to make 2020 his best year yet and try to get back into the top 4 again.

Alexander Zverev: Following on from winning the ATP World Tour Finals in 2018, the 6'6” German has had a promising year. Still only 22 years old, he became one of only 5 men under 23 to reach the 4th round of the Australian Open. He only won 1 title this year, ATP Geneva, which is less than the previous 2 years, but with age on his side 2020 might be the year for him to breakthrough and get his World ranking which is currently 7, up a few places and gain a few more titles along the way.

Ashleigh Barty: The World number 1, 23 year old Australian Barty, has had a fantastic year winning 3 WTA singles titles this year, including her first Grand Slam at The French Open. she is an all rounder, having won both singles and doubles titles on all three major surfaces, though her preferred surface is grass so definitely one to look out for at Wimbledon in 2020.

Naomi Osaka: The 22 year old Japanese, ranked 3rd in the World this year, is in the top 10 of the fastest servers in WTA history. She started off the year winning the Australian Open, becoming the first woman to win consecutive Grand Slam titles since Serena Williams in 2015, having won the US Open in 2018. She picked up 3 singles WTA titles in 2019, with a win / loss ratio of 40:11, she will be looking to add to her 2 career Grand Slams in 2020 and return to World number 1 which he held until September to be pipped out in the end by Barty and Pliskova.
